Box Etiquette

CrossFit Leixlip Box Etiquette

  • Please arrive on time for reserved classes / appointments, pre-class chat/stretch time is always good. Give yourself 5 minutes. If you happen to be late please discreetly join in with everyone, better late than never. This won't be accepted however if it becomes a regular occurrence as this can be disruptive to the class environment. If you know you will be late please pop us a little message on WhatsApp 0873177412.

  • When you arrive to class go upstairs immediately and “check-in” to class on the tablet provided at Reception – if you forget, do it after class or a member of the Team will check you in after class. You can also check out the Workout of the Day on the TV.

  • Introduce yourself to any new faces. We all know how it feels to be the newbie.

  • Place your belongings anywhere other than the gym floor. Storage is provided for members downstairs in the left corner before you come to the bathrooms.

  • Please CANCEL CLASSES as soon as you can always, especially on busy days such as Monday Evenings, Friday 6am Classes or Saturday Mornings as you are potentially taking another member's spot in class. Cancel your class reservation by using the PushPress Member Portal App, otherwise your class will be taken. We don't take it, the system does!!

  • Tell the Trainer immediately if you're feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or nauseous. We can help.

  • When the Trainer is talking, and you are talking also we’ll politely ask you to zip it and listen up – you are paying us to teach you and you are here to learn after all!

  • Try and not be tempted to “coach” newbies or fellow class participants, we appreciate your kind heart, but they are paying us to be here to be Trained by the intended person – do them a favour and get the attention of the Trainer in Charge if you must.

  • Respect the training space and equipment, treat your empty barbell like your baby (i.e. don't just drop it on the ground when it's empty / without bumper plates on it).

  • Put your things away – neatly and in clean condition – immediately after use. Chalk monsters - please use bucket provided and hoover if you must. Sprays and cleaning clothes provided to wipe down the sweat angels and equipment after class.

  • Give training your all, always and safely. Do your best to always meet movement standards and not half-arse it, do it right and count your reps right as best you can.

  • It’s not about how much you can lift but how well you can move. Scale appropriately – ask your Trainer – they are here to help.

  • Olympic lifting takes lots of concentration; because of this, please be mindful to stay clear of a lifter’s line of vision when they’re about to lift. You can cheer for them after a lift, but please don’t walk right in front of them as they’re set to attempt a big lift!

  • It’s your responsibility to be safe while training, always be aware of your surroundings, don’t recklessly drop equipment carelessly and risk injuring others. Stick to using your own equipment during a WOD, not use whatever is closest to you! Set your space and equipment up pre - WOD and own it.

  • When you’ve completed your workout, chill out – grab a foam roller / pain ball and cheer others on. It’s common courtesy at CrossFit Leixlip to not touch or clear away equipment until Everyone in the class has finished the WOD.

  • Cheering for the “last man standing” in a workout. We’ve all finished last and that support you get from your Crew is second to none! Give that last person a little extra help and cheer them on. It will make their day better and yours as well!  Then a team effort clean up will take just a minute or two if everyone helps out!

  • After you have recovered from the WOD, write your name on the whiteboard with your score if you like. Be sure to  record your fitness progress on "Beyond The Whiteboard" - the app we use to measure our fitness and to help you track progress.

  • At the end of class, ensure all equipment is put back in its special little place, cleaned down if dirty (including chalk handprints on the floor) or else the wooden spoon will be out!

  • Be aware of and be nice to everyone else in the gym (you can still be mean to the Trainer lol!).

  • Listen to your Trainer and only your Trainer, especially when they are speaking. You are here paying for their services!

  • Make your Trainer aware of aches, pains or other issues at the start of your session.

  • Keep children within arm's reach – if it's necessary to bring them with you. Please tidy up after them if they make a mess. Well behaved kids may sit in the upstairs area - They are your full responsibility at all times.

  • No Children allowed on Gym Floor at any time.
